I've been working on my new bike lately, and as I look at it up on the motorcycle lift/jack, I see a tool that would work mighty well to jack up and hold up the front end of a tractor when split. It has no problem holding up 800+ pound Jake, and it even has wheels and a mechanical lock. It is basically a platform that is raised by a hyd jack. They range from cheap to not cheap, look them over and see what I'm talking about. Sears and Harbor freight have cheaper models. If they have mechanical locks so the wieght is off the hydraulic jacks, it would work fine IMHO.

I borrowed a Kubota the other day because the 9N is still not finished.

Oh well other priorities.

Thanks for that pic Sean, it says it all. That Sears jack is doing the job well and has a mechanical lock to take the load off the hydraulic jack. Rollers in front, pivoting wheels in back, it's durn near the perfect tractor splitting tool. Good for motorcycles too!

Wish I"d thought of that a few weeks ago when I split mine. I have a MC jack that is about 1/2" too tall to fit right under my bike so I"ve been wondering what it is good for. I think mine is rated at 1500 lbs. With the two rubber coated runners it should fit well on the oil pan. I made a simple cradle out of oak wood to kinda fit the pan and morticed a spot for the round head of the jack to fit in also, then used a floor jack. That worked o.k. too and was safe enough.
