so maybe you can help identify a couple of these things. One has 2 horse shoes welded to 2 pieces of chain that go through what appears to be a cinch ring. The 24" long chain has a "T" on each end. Any ideas what these things were used for?
BTW: I know what the bit was for.

It has been about 65-years since I used one of those chains with the T-ends, but it is (was) used to tie the tongue of a two-horse wagon, sickle mower, cultivator, etc., to the hame (the pulling frame that clamps around the horse collar). The T-handles fastened through a metal ring on each side of the hame - sort of a 'quick-tach' thing. The twist in the chain links prevent it from getting hung-up on one link where it loops through a metal ring at the end of the implement tongue. The chain was the steering device for the implement but the pulling power was from a pair of trace chains from each side of the hame to a singletree attached to the end of a doubletree.

The chain with the two T"s on the ends got me. I thought maybe it was the connnecting chain for what we called cow kikkers. The chain went thru a hole in a thing that clipped over the cow hocks and kept her from kicking you and the bucket when you were pulling and squeezing the milk faucets.

I have some of them chains.

I thought they went between the collar and the chains that went to the single tree, or double tree ifn it was a 2 horse team.

The middle one is part of a bridle, its the bit that goes in the horses mouth

The third is a cattle/horse tie chain. The "T"ends will slip through the links endwise then fall paralell to the link thus securing the chain around the animals neck. Used them for years in our dairy operation. Just don't get your fingers caught under the chain when an unruly animal rears their head when you're trying to release them (Don't ask)

brian is right, the 2 welded together with the chains and ring are a puzzle.

I can take that ring right off of them.

(Well, I used to could, it might take me a couple of minutes these days)

Best I can tell you is put a half twist in the chain, and then fold the shoes together twards each other.

At that point you should be able to slide the ring over one side of the shoes, and off of the other.

The top two shoes weld to chains with a ring is a brain-teaser. The idea is to remove the ring without cutting, breaking the chain. I'd say the second is part of a bit, and I've seen the third also, just can't remember what-for
