Went and looked at a tractor today. 8N with fount mount dist. Has a dearborn 19-21 trip bucket loader and part of a sherman back hoe on it. I can get it for $100. Been sitting where it is since the late 60s so it will be fun to load up but YES I'm going to be hauling it in if it ever cools down enough to be able to do it safely. Some how when its 100 plus its just to hot to try to mess with com-a-longs, jacks etc to load up one like its sitting. Some one took the backet and the bucket arm off that back hoe so all thats left is the main arm and the out riggers and the cylinders for them. Also has a crank shaft drive type hyd pump

I picked up a class III weld on receiver tube from TSC and welded it to the front of the trailer and took the winch and basically welded a plate to the top of a hitch and bolted the winch down to it. This way I can remove the winch with the pull of a pin and if I wanted. I also have a 12 volt RV battery in my tool box on the front of my trailer. This is what my winch runs off of. I also have it hooked into the 12 volt constant on the trailer plug with a 15 amp circuit breaker in there. That way the RV battery does all the work and the breaker protects the truck and trailer wiring, but when you are rolling down the road just going from point A to B your truck is also recharging the RV battery as well.

Old, it might be worth your while to perhaps invest in some kinda winch. This is what I setup on my car trailer I use for my S10 pickup with a V8 in it.

I prepared my trailer for paint yesterday and was going to lay a coat on it to day BUT I am gonna weld me a hitch on it first like yours. even If i don"t use a lectric winch it will serve as a good ancor point of a place to tie in any thing that I may need. Great tip, so tell us about the winch, were did ya git it , how much, rating.

I got my winch at TSC. In fact, I got just about everything I needed there minus the circuit breaker and the electrical stuff. The winch cost me about $350 or so if I recall correctly. My winch is rated at 3700 lbs and is made by Warn. The Warn part number is 603700. It isn't a super large winch and I imagine it won't do much good on something really stuck or heavy without a snatch block. A snatch block will double the mechanical advantage of the winch. What I use my winch for is pulling a rolling but disabled vehicle (IE my S10 with the V8) onto my trailer. It works well for what I use it for without a snatch block. If you were pulling something like a dead tractor that has flats and has been halfway claimed by old Mother Nature snatch block or not you want a bigger winch. I also stayed kinda small because my trailer is only rated for 7,000 lbs so with a snatch block, I really don't want to mess with something a whole bunch heavier than the winch can handle. If my winch with a snatch block can't pull something lose, there's a real good possibility that I have no business trying to haul whatever it is with my 7000 lbs trailer and 1/2 ton pickemup.

It's times like these that I'm glad my brother has access to a rollback and owes me favors. He really helped me out when I bought my 8N and had to drag it on the back. Good luck old! Sounds like you found one heckuva deal!

Do you have room to bring anything w/ you to hoist & block up the "appendages" before trying to move it?

Just the normal hand tools. I think I have it figured out as far as loading it. I figure if I remove the bucket that will get the loader part off the ground and the back hoe part I can lift by hand, the cylinder isn't hooked up and then tie the arm up and then tie the cylinder up to the arm. Its also sitting on a hill which may make it fun because if it starts to roll it could be fun to stop. I may just leave the bucket on till I winch it close to the trailer and then romve it so it doesn't roll to fast

The guy already knows I'm going to buy it. But with the bad tires and haveing the loader sitting on the ground plus the back hoe boom on the ground its going to take a good bit of work to get it loaded up

It sounds to me like you need to know someone with a reasonably priced roll back.

On second thought, I'm not sure how well that would work with the backhoe on it.

That would be a "no brainer" it would be worth more than that as scrap iron.

Not in my area scrap iron like tractors they only pay $30-40 a ton for because they can't crush them like they do cars but ya its one heck of a deal
