I very much respect Sounders opinion.

Mine responds quicker with the thinner fluid.

The thicker fluid seems to gum up my leaver/control valve, which causes a slower response on it. Right now I think I am running about half and half, with the lift working to my expectation. (know that my upper lift housing/cover may need some "proper" adjusting)

I think Sounder is in FL, but I am also in hot NW GA. 103 in the thermometer today..

The lift is run by the pto / pto pump.. speed of the pto is directly proportional to speed of the hyds.

20' may be 'normal'.. that's not too far to get max height, when starting out from a stop.. etc.. with 3pt on the ground.

In any case.. yes.. heavier oil.. like 90w mineral oil will help that response a bit, vs the thin UTF oil.

Also.. it's time to pull the dipstick/inspection cover and raise the lift with a load on it and peer in with a flashlight.. look for squirts and sprays from above ( top gasket, hyd cyl gasket, or piston rings.. ) and from the right side.. ( standpipe leak) and / or turbulence in the oil aft of the pump ( relief valve) when you shut the machine down with the load lifted.

report back what you find.

Also.. how long will it hold a load with clutch in or engine off... if more than 'minutes'.. then the piston is not too horrible.. ( 30m - 1hr+ is bragging rights time...
