Colin; In answer to your ? on the other post. The fire is still only 19% contained, but we are breathing a lot easier, if ya call breathing lots of smoke, fun!!!! The fire has been pushed back quite a ways from our town, and does not pose as much danger, as before.

It was touch and go for awhile. The fire has grown to over 24,000 acres as of this A.M., with very little chance of it being put completely out before the last of Nov. or Dec. In other words, the potentual for growth is very high. Not a very nice thing to see or smell, day in and day out.

But I finally got all the things done that I should have done last summer, to be at least half-safe.third party image

Actually got to work on the 2N this week. Brakes are done, and almost got it tore down, for stripping the old paint off. Have not started the tin yet.

I'm going to be hard put, to get the N done by first snow fly in Dec. third party image

Talk to ya later.

To bad that tropical Erin that went through here didnt head your way. We had 4" of rain and some pretty major flooding in the area. Lake is so high now the road at the back of our subdivision is under 2' water. Hurricane Dean is the Next threat...I hope he stays south of the border. We dont need any more rain..

We got real lucky, and got about 1-2 inches of rain, and just a little wind from Erin. We had just gotten dry again, and the rain was almost perfectly timed, as most hay had just been baled, and now we have a good start for another cut. Round bales are everywhere!

Those numbers don't sound good. But I'm glad to hear that you and your town are safe, even if by the skin of your teeth.

Maybe, in exchange for some tips on good back country sledding locations, you could convince a few of us to come out give you a hand with that tin work this fall ;-)

Colin
