Ok fellas I need more opinions. When my 48 N is pulling hard and bush hogging after an easy pull and the governor starts to kick in the N splutters slightly and sometimes a small pop out the exhaust. I thinking maybe the points are too close or burned. It also seems to bog down just a hair under load. What do you guys think. Thanks all R.M. In Al.

R.M. What Tom said is very good advice. However, you say the points may be closed or burned. This indicates to me that you haven't checked them in a while. Do It now, then adjust the carb if necessary. Ron

What about when you do the rolling test where you are just rolling forward in 3rd gear then suddenly give it full throttle? How does it respond? If it stumbles your carb could be adjusted too lean or even too riich. If it stumbles I would try turning the main adj. needle out an eighth of a turn and see what happens. Check the spark by grounding one of the plugs against a good clean spot on the motor and turn it over with the starter. You should see strong blue spark not yellow. If yellow check the points like you said.
