Hi All,

Thanks for your help in the past it has been truly great.

I want to replace the dust boot on one of my front steering arms but the the nut on the bottom will not break lose. The tapered shaft just spins when I turn the nut. Any tricks I can use to get the nut lose and remove the ball joint from the steerting arm?

Thanks in advance for any ideas anyone might have.

Art,

Try an impact wrench, Hopefully the impact will get it loose.

Theres a few way that might work. 1 is to clamp the arm down tight so as to press the joint tighter. 2 is to use thin vise grips to clamp onto the shaft and then take the nut off. 3 take a hammer and hit the top of the joint a few times and some times that will lock it also. Now none of these thing will work for sure just some ways I have done it in the past.. You can also get a nut splitter and that will do it for sure but then you also need to get a new nut and maybe work on the treads on the joint
