Our "new" 2-N has a Sherman Step-Up Transmission.
Does the Sherman have it's own oil supply, or is it combined with the regular transmission oil. We plan to change it soon. Don't want to screw it up.

Pappy..... ..good for you to check about yer dealer installed Sherman aux tranny Oil. It came un-oiled and was filled upon installation.

But heres the "kicker", yer main tranny front bearing is slotted cage and the mainshaft has an "oil-slinger" that actually PUMPS excess tranny oil thru the bearing cage into yer Sherman box cavity, OVERFILLING it. When you turn yer tractor off, the overfilled Sherman oil drains back into yer main tranny oil, thus "exchanging" some of the oil every time you run yer tractor.

Considering yer Sherman hold just 1-qt of tranny oil and yer tranny oil reservoir holds 5-gals, the dilution factor is a "non-issue". Bottom line, don't worry about "flushing" yer inaccessible Sherman tranny..... ..Dell

Thanks Dell(WA)
I read the rebuilding proceedure on Smith's Web-Site and it seems that the Sherman is to be filled prior to installation. Thanks for your response!!
