I would like to put a Chevy 4.3 V6 into an 8N. Has anyone heard of an adapter or of anyone who has done this?

Thanks
Pep

There is a company that does the whole conversion kit minus engine. I have pics of their kit. E-mail me if you need more info. Philip.

Pep, if you really want to do it, it only takes a good fabrication shop and CUBIC $$. As the others guys say, check out the 'sites'. The downside is, you will have a KOOL, but unworkable tractor....too much 'oomph' for the rest of the old iron.

Pep,
Do an "archive" search for "chevy v6" and you will get quite a few returns. I guess it's been done successfully. Probably unsuccessfully also.

Thanks Guys,

This gives me a lot of places to start. I realize this is a lot of horsepower, but I'm hoping to be able to govern it in some way to keep it under control.
I have '52 8N that was in a fire and front and engine was badly burned. I thought that since I'm retired this might give me a way to spend a lot of time.

Thanks again

pep

Limited by a governor to the RPM's of the original engine, your new V-6 will put out WAY less than it's rated HP.

Which I would think is a really good thing (especially torque), it the interest of gears/shafts, etc. designed for <30HP & 92ft-lbs.
I guess the old critters are really over designed in many respects, as we see the 6 & v8 conversions and even more impressive than that, my father-in-law used one of the two that my son & I now own as a literal bulldozer....talk about abuse! But still runnin hard as ever! Just amazing!

That was my point. When "detuned" by the lower RPM's, the V-6 isn't going to be as destructive of the old tractor as some might expect.
