This is a shot in the dark but... Do any of you happen to own a Husqvarna Lawn Tractor? I have a model YTH1542 that is about six years old. I am trying to locate a grass bagger for it. I am having no luck, mainly because I can't find a cross reference for the equivilent Sears Craftsman mower. Sears Parts department told me to call Sears.com product department, and the Sears.com people said I had to talk to Sears Parts!!

I'm not sure that just any bagger for a Sears 42 inch mower will work. The Husqvarna website is no help either. So, if any of you have this mower and a bagger, maybe you can tell me the bagger model number.

Thanks.

I just went to Sears last week to pick up some parts the local lawnmower dealer did not have. The shop owner looked the parts up and sent me there with a cross reference of both American Yard Products and Sears parts numbers (AYP built all Sears Mowers when mine was new and may still). Sears would not sell me the parts even though the numbers were good because I had no Sears S/N to give them. Had to go on line to order them. Try Outdoor Distributors on line, they are in Shelby AL and are pretty good with parts service.

9NJethro, just calm down. When you see OT on a post ,that is a good sign it stands for "Off Topic", therefore not 2N, 9N or 8N related, so just move on to the next post. Simple, huh?

Get a grip jethro2... why not cut the poster some slack.???? The fact that this forum has such a vast amount of info to offer is why we get occasional OT posts.. and even posts about different color tractor's cuz people know they can get good answers here.

The poster placed an obligatory 'OT' in his subject message. If you didn't want to read it.. you could have passed on.

If you want strict topical sub's and quick headchopping moderation, head over to TBN. otherwise.. .... you know where the door is if this is not to your likeing..

That said.. try to have a better day, and happy tractoring.

Let's remember that handle in case HE ever has to pose an OT question here. ;O)

FWIW, AYP still makes most if not all of Sears' tractors. Finally got tired of fighting with my old lawn tractor and bought a new Sears 4500 last fall w/20HP Kohler. No problems thus far.

Gave up on Sears parts years ago. When I need parts, there's a real hardware store about 20 minutes away with a real parts guy that can find just about anything. Darn shame they don't do N parts too.

Example: Needed a new mower spindle assembly once for a Craftsman deck. Sears wanted over $60 for it plus shipping, paid in advance. Real hardware guy had me one the next day UPS, for a tad over $40, COD. That was probably 15 years ago, ain't bought any mower or chainsaw parts anywheres else since.

The orginal Craftsman spindle assembly had the pulley welded onto the shaft. The replacement "quill assembly" was bolted together, so a feller could likely replace the bearings if need be, with a bit of effort and some luck.

About the only Sears parts I might buy now, would be in the store and available at a decent price, which doesn't happen often.
