I've got a covington 5' cutter. It's got a rear wheel.

There are two holes on the top of the point where the top link can connect.

The bottom hole fits the top link exactly. The hole above that is slightly larger.

I've been trying to figure out if something is missing. Should I have something called an "A frame" that is a pivot arm sort of connection so if the front of the tractor or the rear of the cutter needs to go up it can pivot slightly at that top link connection point?

RD.. if your mower is 3pt.. then it likely has the a-frame already.

what you may be thinking if is a slop-link.. however.. i think the other poster has the right idea in that your mower will accept a cat 2 toplink pin as well as cat 1... ( and you could bush up the lift pins to cat2 if needed.. etc.. )

rd...if I understand your toplink connection, it has both a cat-1 & cat-2(larger pin)option.

Some brush hogs have a slot for the toplink connection, allowing some movement to let the mower follow contours.
