once i got the grease fittings off i aligned the little fella to get the pin out. except that there doesn't seem to be a pin in there yet the coupler won't come off. doesn't there have to be a pin in there? the darn thing wobbled all the time since i bought the tractor and i don't need it since i don't run a tiller so i want it off.

A tiller is not the main implement a ORC is for.. IMHO.. a rotary mower is the prime user of ORC's..

the pin is a roll pin, meaning it is flat steel rolled into a letter C shape - you can see through it, and a little grease on each end would make it look like a par of the PTO shaft.

thanks ed. by the time i got back in here i had her fixed. the previous owner put one in but when i took it out it was broke in half. thank god i won't have to worry about that pto ripping me apart anymore. had to get my original cap back from my brother. he bought a new aluminum one for $8. the guy said originals go for $20 so i had to get mine back.
