OK this is wierd. I have hundreds of flies on my hood when I drive. None when parked.

'49 8N 6Volt front mount (not that this should mater) and I'm out getting some seat time mowing the roads and I have a swarm of flies crawling on the hood.

There are flies around the farm but mostly around the cows, why are they so attracted to the hood? They just crawl around forward of the gas tank door for hours.

PS Both the tractor and I have showered.

Now here in central illinois the river is coming up fast. The last 2 and 1/2 hours about 4 feet. We need no more rain. Never in my life have I seen this much rain in July and August!!!!

I mowed 25.2 acres of CREP ground just as the mayfly hatch hit and it was unreal. Daytime in my eyes and night the hood was solid. Heat??

Down here in fl, flies like warmth.. when it gets too cold thaey land.

Any chance it is a temp thing with the tractor and they are staying near the 'moving' heater?

Here in Central Texas, when the weather gets cold the flies will land anywhere it's warm (car in the sun, house windows, etc.).

When it's cold, they are barely active, and you can swat them as they sit.

Well I don't know about "hundreds" but here in NH we have some brownish flies called "deerflies" that are attracted to moving objects. They bite like holy H too! They go after me when I am out jogging on the roads, but they also go after my tractor when it is moving. If you have swarms of flies, I suspect they aren't deerflies though, since they come in ones and twos only..... lol

Someone said:

I guess we could add:

TRACTOR FLIES LIKE AN 'N'...

Sorry, I guess that's no help at all..... ...
