OK, still runnin', BUT now I need some CORRECT info on how to adjust the carb. It will idle OK, but from my understanding it is very complicated to adjust this puppy (8N).
Since I is a newbie, specific instructions would be GREAT!!

Thx Fellers

As far as the other adjustment needle is concerned - this is the one facing the radiator - I had luck with the method told to me by an old guy who works on these 8Ns. Turn the adjustment out about 3 or 4 turns - then when the engine is warmed up get rpm up to about 1/2 or 3/4 speed. Gradually, a little bit at a time, with a few moments for the system to adjust, turn it back in...nowt will happen for a few turns but then it will start to cough and stumble...back it out again about 1/2 turn and let it settle down, then a tad more if needed. I discovered on mine that under load and high rpm mine was sputtering...I gave this needle another turn out and that fixed the problem.

Idle jet is the side pointing jet..nearest the manifold mating flange.. Main jet is the big one that faces the radiator...

Dell's carb. adjustment instructions:I set the down-pointing mainjet to 1-12 turns and LEAVITT!!! then adjust the side-pointing idlemix for maximum idle rpms, NOT SMOOTHEST idle, MAX idle rpms. I then set the behind the carb idle-speed screw for SLOOOooow 400rpms idle. (ennythang under 500rpms is good) I do the idlemix adjust dance at least 3-times. Remember the side-pointing idlemix is BASSACKWARDS; out for lean, IN for ENRICH. My idlemix usually ends up about 38 turn. Yours will be different..... .....Dell
