Can someone tell me what the factory specs are for compression on the 2 and 9n tractors? Optimum and acceptable compression ranges. Thanks, Rodney

Buy an I&T manual. 90 lbs minimum @ cranking speed. The upper range usually falls in the 110-125('though there are reports of some as high as the 140-50lb range) on an engine in good condition. The lowest cylinder reading should be at least 75% of the highest cylinder reading.. Do a dry reading then a wet reading. if there is a great difference bewteen the dry and wet, rings are probably shot. If tehre is no great difference, the valves are leaking or sticking. Low pressure in 2 adjacent cylinders usually means a blown head gasket.
