My new tractor is now at home. It had the same owner since 57. He tells me it's not a Funk, but a Glover conversion, made before Funk joined in? Not a bad runner for 1,000.00, normal issues of worn bushings, but good brakes, clutch, 3 nice tires, and another damn strange seat. A wiring mess, but thats easy.

You can get the year of the tractor either from date codes on the rear axle trumpets or a date cast into the bottom of the hydraulic pump next to the drain plug.

From what I've read and heard, Glover was the dealer for Funk kits east of a certain geographical line in the US. So the Funk and Glover kits would be identical. I have a seen a piece of literature with the Glover name on it and another that looked identical except for the Funk name on it, so tend to believe what I heard is true. Funk did cast their name into the side of the engine adapter, I think behind the starter. Don't know if they cast the Glover name or left the name off, but you could look to see if there are any names or number in the adapter.

From the pictures you posted, looks just like a Funk to me.

No Funk markings anywhere on any conversion piece, it's the early steel rail kit, no cast iron pan. The 8n year is unknown, i'll look over some numbers in the morning.

The seat is a Knoedler. John Smith's site has some info about it. I had one on my TO 30 Ferguson. Replaced it with a regular original flip seat. The Knoedler seat is sitting in a corner of my shed awaiting restoration.

is that a proof meter below the steering wheel?

and the flanges on the top of the differential - do all 8n's have those?

Ed...yes, all 8N's have the extra lugs on top of the diffy. They are for the long hitch pin.

The NAA & Jubilee have them too, then they were dropped on the hundred-series due to the Ferguson law suit.

Yes its a proof meter, This is my 1st 8N but the rear end is much heavier duty looking than my 9N.
