When farmers" demands for horsepower outpaced the manufacturers" designs, farmers would sometimes figure out ingenious tandem hookups. At Portland in August 2006, a John Deere 730 hooked in tandem with an 830 plowed a wide swath in one pass.

Pretty cool. I think the setup with no front wheels is by far the cooler setup :D

I have seen one N series that had it done to it but they where side by side not in line with each other. Back when I lived in Mississippi I saw a good number of tractors hooked up that way, common down in the area I live in back in the 70s

I saw the side by side one on tv a while back...That was interesting. I did some searching and could not find a photo of either setup.

Sean:

Of course. I have seen several versions of such dual tractors.

The most impressive that I have seen is a dual JD 830 diesel. Imagine four 6 1/8 by 8 1/2 cylinders (diesel) producing (conservatively) 85 HP per 2 cylinder engine at around 1150 RPM (pretty much all torque).

Something to see.
