I pulled the old seals off my 48 8N because the brakes were soaked with oil. Made riding down the hillside a real adventure. In the catalog I see "rear axle Sure Seals". Do these fit over the old seals or in place of them? Has anyone used them and do they work? I hear that 8N rear seals had a problem leaking. Mine sure did. Appreciate the help from you gents on this.

Make sure not to overfill the diffy with oil. That"s the main reason that most folks have problems with their brakes. Take out the bolt at the 6 o"clock position on the side cover with the dipstick in it. If oil runs out, let it drain until it stops. That is what most folks consider full. If you have never cleaned out the sludge in the bottom of that sump, it is most likely overfull. Anywhere from 4.5 to 5 gallons seems like the norm most people are putting in their tractors. I put 5 gallons in my "51 8N and it didn"t reach this hole. Hope that helps.
