I moved an old trailer down from the christmas tree ranch my in laws have which has been sitting there for many many years - managed to get some air in the tires and thankfully it is close to our property here so was only illegally on the road for about 1/3 of a mile....anyway the tires are shot - they are 6.00 16 - thought I could pick some up for about $30 each....was I wrong! Anyone know a source for two tires (used would be fine as I am only using it on our property here)? I am being quoted $65 each before mounting etc. I know they do ribbed tires this size but looking for some with regular tread.
Interestingly the trailer is an International trailer - in good solid shape...I bet there are not many of those still around.

The old Jeeps didn't use 16" rims. They were 16.5" sizes.

The 16" tires are getting hard to find, and new they are expensive! Almost special order these days.

I found used ones on an old RV that I got the entire set in almost perfect condition for $60, but he insisted I leave him the old dried tires in exchange so he could at least use them to move the old RV around the lot if he needed to.

A 6.00X16 would be around the same size as a 205R16 in todays terms and almost any tire shop will probably have a few on hand used that could be picked up for $10-15 each. But on those old rims you will most likely need to put tubes in them because the rim will not be made for the new tubeles type tires. The tires them self will work just fine on those rims just that they will not seal as they should

I agree with the others.. find a place that does tires and find some serviceable 16"ers.. probably get them for 10$+mounting

look for tires that fit the OLD Jeeps, all the OLD ones were 16", you may even some used mill tread that are still good.

I have a trailer that takes the same size. I usually stop at a local car dealership and they seem to be more than willing to let me go through the tire pile out behind the service shop.

Car dealers have to pay to have tires taken away and most are more than happy to donate tires to farmers. You may want to check with a local dealership, I haven't paid for a new tire on that trailer yet

Thanks - actually the tire shop guy suggested I go down to the local wreaking yard as they have a stock of used tires.
It must be to do with volume of production as they were advertizing tires for cars at $30 each. If the tire is in fair shape often Ill just have a new tube put in but although these have good tread the sidewall is literally breaking apart.
