I'm not really new here. Just had to register again, due to the fact I forgot my old password to..my old username..Skeeter/Kansas.

Bunch of the old guys (guru's) Dell/Wa. Claus, Gaspump, many others here may remember me. I'm the one who made the report (post) back in July 2001 titled.."The Ford/Funk 8N Story".

I still have the 1949 8N. It still is used in the local parades, and abouts.

I had to replace the "original 1949" rear tires couple years ago. Did get the Firestone's like the originals. Really paid a high price though.

Now I'm in need to replace the "original 1949" front tires. These old Firestone's are sidewall cracked and the tubes are really bad also. I keep having to air up the tires due to their old and worn out. I can get two new 4.00 x 19 with the original 1 rib Firestone's. Does anyone know if these 1 rib Firestone tires are any good? Are they made in China, as most all other are?

Got to get the Old Red Belly ready for a Thanksgiving parade..

I

Up until a couple of years or so ago you could still get them from Firestone for under $50, might check a Firestone Ag dealer to see if any are still in stock. Goodyear also sold them but about the same time frame they sold their ag tire business to Titan that still makes ag tires with the Goodyear name on them, I belive also the single rib 4X19" F1 front tire. Nice to see you back.

Thanks to all for the input here. I did log on to Miller Tire Co. WOW! $170.00 big ones for two such old looking 1 rib tires. After some thought, it makes sense to buy the later 3 rib design. At least I'll be in tuned with all the others.
Checking with Tractor Supply Co, find they have Firestone Champions 4.00 x 19 3 rib at $49.88 ea. There is TSC store some 60 miles from me. That's probably be my best bet for new tires. Red Belly will run better having some new shoes...

Hey 8N-
They are made in Brazil and seem to be decent quality. I bought a set a few years ago when they first came out for my show tires and they are holding up well. Try M.E. Miller tire oryour local Firestone dealer.

I imagine a tri-rin would track better on asphalt.. but that's a personal choice type decision.. etc.
