Noticed a weird noise at the rear of my tranny after 4 hours of brush hogging. Plan is to do it under a shade tree. I want to roll the rear end away from the tranny. Looks like the best way to go about it. Any tips or tricks? Words of wisdom? can trailer jacks with a wheel be mounted to the PTO inspection ports? Have seen it done in pics on the front of the tranny. Like to mount those before I roll the rear back..

Im thinking the non swivel type will be stronger. Im going to look at them in the next day or two. I got some big honking timbers today. 4X12. Going to cut them to 24" lengths. Cleaning the sump with Diesel. Going to let it soak a few days. Must of the sluge is broken up already.

I think I would put two on, or go heavy duty, as these have been know to break and fall, costing a broken casting and big bucks to replace. I would also block it up after it is split regardless of method.

drained the fluids found some thin strips of metal. My guess is they are a bearing caseing??? Found most of them in the drain plug the rest I found with a magnet in the drained oil/... Have 5 gallons of diesel in the tranny now...Is it ok to let it soak for a week?

Going to split the rear half first. Then use a cherry picker to get the tranny off the engine. Kinda daunting task but the best way is to dig in. Drained the diffy. Plus I have the inspection plates of for a closer look. Going to give it a good flush first...

Removed that today...No change in the sound. Does it with or without the pto on. Stops when I depress the clutch. Im convinced it is a bearing on the rear of the counter shaft.
