Well I ripped down my engine today and sure enough, the rod and crank are galled up bad. Think I can fix the crank and get the aluminum off but I am gonna need a rod and maybe a piston. Also found out what caused the oil to "disappear" seems the breather was defective and allowed all the juice to pump out over time. Note to self, check the oil every week instead of every season.

Note to self, check oil each time before you start!.. that's what the dipstick is for!

it's part of that precheck thing.. kick tires, turn on fuel, look into fuel tank ( put out cigar first )check oil, check oil in air breather, look at lugnuts, pull trans dipstick etc..

I take it you spun the main where the sheels galled to the crank.

Good luck on the crank.. hopefully it survived.

You can get recon rods here :

Rod wBushing, reconditioned - Fits 9N, 2N, 8N all with Gas. Recoditioned Piston Rod with Bushing. (Part No: 1201581) $72.12

Or good used ones at the smiths:

Good used connecting rods part number 9N6200. Fits all 9N-2N-8N tractors. $20 each - free shipping (48 states)

If your crank don't polish up you can get new or reground from here at YT.. or a used one that probably needs a regrind from the smiths.. good luck
