First, check to make sure that the trans is not overfilled. next, make sure you don't have any up/down-side/side play in the pto shaft. If you have play, that and the leaky seal are telling you you have a bearing going out. You can repalce the seal and/or bearing for a little time and sweat equity at about 1/4 the cost of replacing the entire pto shaft assembly that has a new seal, bearing, etc.. the latter, as stated.. costs more.. but only takes about 5 minutes and is a 4-bolt job.. don't even have to drain the oil if you park nose down in a ditch.. just run 4 bolts out.. slide out old shaft.. clean gasket flange.. slide new shaft in with new gasket, rebolt, and go... probably do it almost as fast as i typed this message. Seal and bearing is a littl e more involved as you will need to disassemble the bearing carrier fromthe shaft.. etc.. though it's not a bad job.. just get a piece of wood to tak the outter end of the pto shaft on once you pull the inner snap ring.. this gets the carrier seperated.. etc.. Check out the surface the seal lip rides on to see if it needs a sleave.. etc.. soundguy
