Would you send your tractor off to one of those companies to have it restored? Just got the N complete parts catalogue through the mail - they do restoration on 8Ns....at first thought that if I came into some money I would have my old gal sent off for restoration.....then, thought...maybe the tractor that came back would be so perfect it might lose it's character?

If I had the money I would send my old 8N off for new pistons, rings sleeves and valve overhaul and some new tires and leave her be...then buy a pretty one for show!!!

Well, didn't win the lottery but we had a tractor at work (school district) that was used by almost everyone that worked grounds. It was the last of the "vintage" tractors. We sent it off to NComplete. While pricey, it was cheaper than a new tractor and will be around a whole lot longer than a new one. Everyone who has seen it and used it agrees it was well worth the money. It has all the character and charisma of an original tractor.

I"d get out from behind this desk and get a couple of hundred acres with a nice old farmhouse and barn. I"d restore the farmhouse and the barn, and spend the rest of my life trying to figure out how to farm.

Oh, ya, I"d probably get myself some more tractors too ;-)

I'd buy a house next to the Playboy mansion and start digging tunnels. Would also get a front end loader for my 8N to scatter the dirt around.

You would have to watch out and not hit all the tunnels coming under the border out there.

Yeah, its about time someone does a photo shoot with some hot girls draped over a tractor!!! They do it for cars, motorbikes, trucks, hot rods and whatever....how about some tractors with models posing on them!!?

I agree - would clear an area and have a nice big shop with heating, good lights, a lift, etc etc - then all my bikes, trucks, tractors etc nicely lined up inside. Ever see a picture of Jay Lenno's garage? - Might need two lottery wins to reproduce that thoughthird party image

Britch,

Be CAREFUL what you ask for!

A couple of years ago, I was looking at some photos of GREEN LGT's on GOOGLE Images when a series of NASTY photos came up of a gal draped over an "H" or "M" IH.

I had to call the wife over to have at look at where I found them (in the middle of the garden tractor photos), so she COULDN'T accuse me of LOOKING for them!

If I won the lottery, I'd just buy more tractors and still be too stingy to pay someone else to fix what I can fix myself.

Might swap the woman who keeps tellin' me that two tractors is two too many though and get me one that thinks a feller can't never have too many old tractors....unless the one I have now would spend all her time shopping, instead of pesterin' me about tractors? ;o)

If a person sent there tractor off to get it restored, wouldn't it come back as a Chinese tractor? How would they be able to replace all them wore out American parts that have lasted for more than 50 years? See my point there? God Bless America and anything that is American made.

If I won the lottery I'd quit work, and then stay home and do the restore job myself.. even if it did take a couple years!

Bingo!

Winning the lottery allows one to pursue one's favorite liesure activities.

If I won, I would have much more time to work on hobbies like old tractors.

I could'nt see what the point of owning an old tractor would be, if someone else did all the work. I might own it, but it would'nt really be mine. I really would'nt have much to say about the tractor. I would for sure have a better shop to make my restoring alot easier. Just as soon as I pull enough firewood out of the woods, I'm gonna make a few more mechanical repairs, then repaint mine to original colors.

they have some nice stuff there, but i would rather buy all the parts needed and do it myself, the fun and experience of doing it and even the blood sweat and new cuss words that nobody has even heard before all add up to a experience that money just cant buy, and if you can get your kidd or grandkid intrested in helping you with it it can be good times that otherwise would never happen, just my opinion
