Do the crank seals need to be trimmed off if they stick out of the reatainer about 1/8'' on each end?

Ditto.. the rope seals should be a tad proud. Did you soak them in oil?

Yeah...soaked for the mandatory 2 hrs...didnt hear from anyone so I trimmed em a bit...still a tad proud ..figgered they would smush a bit. Thanks

If they are "rope" seals, they will crush into position and should not be trimmed flush.
