Over Ride Coupler

The override coupler seperated from the PTO shaft on my 52 8N. I replaced the grease fittings and what appeared to be a roll pin. Now, when the PTO selector is engaged, and I put the tractor in 1st gear, it starts forward without the clutch being let up. I'm thinking maybe I put too long of a roll pin in when I put the coupler back on the PTO shaft. Any suggestions on what may be wrong?

Thanks for the info..... . I took it back apart and shortened the pin to the diameter you said, and it is working fine now..... ... Thanks again.

Hmm.. I'm thinking your foot clutch is stuck to the flywheel.

When you have your foot on the clutch, there should be no connection betwixt the engine and the tranny.. and that pto is a tranny driven pto. Thus if you have your foot pushing the clutch down, and the pto is turning.. then the clutch ain't disengaged.

Now if, instead, you are refering to when mowing that you push in the clutch, and the tractor is in gear, and the pto engaged, and the mower keeps pushing the tractor.. then yes.. your roll pin is too long.. or you hammered it in too deep and it is catching on the other side opposite of the zerk. The pin can be no longer than the OD of the inner spinning part that is coupled tot he pto shaft.. Thus it must be shorter than the ID of the outer rotating piece.. etc.
