Quick 2-row Corn Picker Update - It Works!

My field corn isn't quite dry enough yet to pick, but I wanted to see how the picker worked in case repairs were needed, so I pulled it out, greased it up (New Idea kept some grease fitting company in business with these pickers, I'm sure), and headed out to the field.

I only ran one row, but it worked as advertised! However, it's about all the little 8N can do to run it (also as advertised). Had to do the "8N Two-step" a couple of times to let the picker clear out in heavier sections, similar to running the baler in heavy windrows.

I should be able to go ahead and use the N to pick the rest in a few weeks, but probably a one-row would be better suited to the N.

Will post photos and maybe video after we're done pickin'.

I should clarify that I ran one "pass," of two rows of corn. Where both rows were thick is where the N started bogging down...

Well ya,a 2 row picker would be too much for an 8N. We pulled 1 row pickers with our Fergusons in 2nd gear most of the time.
