OK,

I am about to order a pto override coupler for my brush hog - I would like your advice if I am ordering the right one for me.

The pto output shaft on the tractor is 1 1/8 - the female end on the drive shaft of the brush hog is 1 3/8

This is what I am looking at ordering:

is this the right one for me?

It was a rather exciting afternoon getting the brush hog out of the back of my brother in laws truck - it went in in moments with the help of a big John deer tractor with a front loader and chain - getting it out involved cables, chains, the winch on the front of my old truck and a lot of scary moments....it is safely out now and we both have all our limbs - want to give it a go but going to wait for the override coupler. Any additional advice about putting these on, use etc would also be appreciated.

Lee

More than likely you will have to shorten the PTO shaft to make room for the ORC. Slide the shaft apart and cut equal amounts off both ends.
Lets say it needs to B 4" shorter, cut 2" off each shaft.

Are there any couplers that have an easy-on/off coupling? I'd like to take mine off occasionally but it darn near tood a sledge hammer to drive that pin in.

YES, that should be the correct one.

To install, most have either 1 or 2 grease fittings on them, there also is a pin, remove both grease fittings, rotate the insides till the holes line up all the way thru. Slide it on the pto and line up the hole with the one on the pto, put the pin thru the hole and center it in the coupler (may need hammer and drift punch), put the grease fittings back on then grease it.
