Question to all who may have the Cyclone Air Cleaner assembly with the cup/jar/spring attachment.

My '49 8N has the original cup and spring with pint jar. The old cup and spring has lost it's effect, due to some rust at the bottom. I ordered a new ...#9N-23053 Cyclone Cup & Spring assembly. It won't fit like the old original. The spring is way too short for the pint jar.

Does anyone have such item on their 8N? If so, what is the length of the jar?
That is in height from the cup to where it attaches to the air cleaner part.

From what I can gage, the new one I just got, the spring is too short.

Part number 230053 bale is for the 230056 1/2 pint jar on the cyclone systems and have a cup .

acp-1234 1 pint jar and acp-2134 1 pint bale are for the harco systems and have a tab .

Sorry I cant answer your question , but I couldn't find a 1 pint cup style bale . Not saying they didn't make them , just saying I couldn't find one.

I have a tab style 1 pint bale that needs a jar but most of the jars I have dont fit that well . I can blow hundreds of dollars on something I might not ever use , but sometimes refuse to pay $9.10 for a replacement jar . I think I will go to the grocery store with a tape measure and find a jar that fits . I just hope I like whats in the jar , LOL .

This is my Cyclone air cleaner system. The jar is a pint size. It's just shorter and fatter, which makes it look like a 1/2 pint size. The jar measures 4-1/8" length. A regular pint jar might be about 5-1/2"..

There's a person on ebay offering this little jewel for $175.00.. And he states it's a firm price. He states it's from a '48 8N.
The name on the bowl (jar) is... Air Cleaner Service Co. 6501. AHK stamp. The same name, number, etc as I have on my jar with the Cyclone Pre-Cleaner system. Only mine is longer, fatter, and has a ridge (bulge) at the middle.. around the jar.

The original jars were NOT pints. If yours is a pint jar, it's NOT original! That's why the bail you bought doe's work with your jar. The original jars were special made for the application and have been unavailable for 50 years.

It is more like a half pint or 8 OZ jar.

It is a pint jar. It hold a pint of liquid.

I took one of the wife's one pint jars, and filled it with water. I poured the water into the old 8N jar...it hold the same amount. Only the size is different. The 8N jar is same size at top where the threads are, but it's fatter and shorter. Shorter by about 1/2 inch. That is the reason I'm asking the jar size of any one here that has the Cyclone Air Cleaner assembly.

I may be wrong, but I believe there was a pint size spring and one for a shorter jar. I think you just got the wrong size spring.
