I'm planning on painting my 2n this winter, and been thinking that it would be nice to be able to roll my tractor with wheels off and on a stand out of the garage to pressure wash, and maybe paint outside, then back in. Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking maybe a stand with small trailer wheels. Something I could weld up, and use on future tractors. I'm sure someone has done it this way. I just hate to have it sitting in one spot while I'm doing it just in case another important project comes up in the meantime. Thanks

Wouldn't it be easier to just put the wheels back on if it needs to be moved?

No, I dont think it would be easier. I think it would be a real pain in the arse to put 4 tractor tires on and off to move it in and out of the garage for another project that has to be done. Plus, this isnt going to be my last tractor restore, so I want to make it adjustable for other tractors. The larger trailer tire idea is because I'd be moving it from concrete garage floor to limestone driveway which is all flat. If I knew it would be my only restore, I would'nt bother. I just thought, that with all the people restoring tractors out there, someone has done this. Maybe, it wont work right, but I cant see why not. I liked the pics Gary had. and that would be sorta the direction I would go.

Hey Dan;

My thought is..... a trailer frame, 2 axle, strong enough to carry the "N" weight, run the "N" up on the trailer, then use the Dearborn "tractor jack", to jack it up, chain the jack in the up position, and block the "N" up for saftey.
That is what I'm using right now to do my "N", but with out any way to move it around. Of course there might be the problem of heighth on the garage door, but..... could be done if you used, say 12" car wheels!!!???

Or modify a dry-wall cart they claim to have a 3000lb capasity. Cut off the side rail and you have a cart to fit under the tractor.

There are 37 pages of lift items in their catalog that may be of help or a start.

Thanks everyone, I want bigger wheels, but I will try to make something out of pipe that I can adjust the height on, and maybe adjust the length with pins. It's looking real good in my head. Now if I could make it..... ..... ..... ....
