64 MILLION DOLLARS.

Some of you Ford N guys may remember couple weeks ago I was searching for two Firestone 4.00 x 19 tires like the original ones that came on my '49 8N.
I received the Firestone tires today @ $85.00 ea. plus $15.00 ea. shipping...

The tires are great, and look just like the originals.

But here's where the winner gets the dough..

Last week I bought two 4.00 -18/19SL TR15 #35610 Carlisle tubes from Tractor Supply Co. NOTE: The .."TR15" stands for type of value stem..
This afternoon, I spent three hours trying to get one of the tubes in the tire and rim. The "Value Stem" will not work. The location of the value stem on the tube will not fit correctly in the rim when "trying" to air it up.

QUESTION: Does the 8N 19" rims take the TR13 or TR15 value stems?

Winner gets to spend Christmas in Hawaii, Or a ride on Air Force One.

All of my 19" rims use the smaller 1/2" diameter tr13 stem , except for the one with the hole rusted out , it could use the tr15 5/8" diameter stem.

Ok, must back-track here. I'm referring to the position(location) of the value stem on the inner tube. The tubes I purchased at TSC have the vale stem in the center (like a bicycle tube) and not offset as the pic here shows. I need the offset as that's the way the rim is. This is a TR13 v. stem. Note the angle of the stem....

I'm wondering....when an inner tube is flaccid, does it really matter all that much?

I mean, if you partially inflated the tube, I suppose it would fall into a position with the valve sticking straight in to the center. But if you then mounted it into a tire and onto a rim slightly twisted so the valve stuck out at the angle indicated in order to accommodate the hole in the rim, would the tube care?

I realize the circumference of the tube is greater on the side that is supposed to be the outside, and all that, but would it make much difference if you squoushed it around a couple of degrees?

Peter, my theory here is, the tube when inflated in the tire, will conform to it's design. If the stem is in the center of the tube, and the tire hole is offset at an angle from the tube's, the pressure will force the stem from the hole, which is the problem I'm having.

UPDATE:

I open the other carton with the sealed (tube)plastic bag. I found the other tube has the offset value stem, just as wanted for both. This tube will work, as the stem is design to angle to the side (rim) for mounting.

Both tube cartons have the same name, size, and exact information. Just two different vale stems. Although, they have the same wording in each tube.

Now that I don't have a clue , but mine were in the center and they work just fine . I was kind of questioning them not being off set , but then again some of my employees would have off set it on the wrong side anyway , LOL .

I used TSC tubes for my 2n 19" tires.. they pointed straight in the middle.. I just used a flexible valve fishing tool to get them out the hole inthe rim. then i aired them up.. no issues with them staying in the rim..
