I was getting ready to order oil pump repair kit, and it was giving me 2 measurements for the gear. Ok since I am learning on this, is it the big ft. gear they are wanting the measurment on. Or the width of the gears inside of the pump? I know it is a noob question, but want to order the right part the first time....lol..

Handyman,

I feel yer pain. What you want it the THICKNESS of the gear not the diameter. All pump housings are the same size so they take the same diameter gears, its the height of the gears that come in two flavors.

un-handyman..... ....iff'n the oilpump gear didn't have teeth, it would be a cylinder. What would you measure??? DIAMETER and height. Would you believe the oilpump kits are asking for DIAMETER??? Would you believe it is not a micrometer measurement??? Can you tell the difference between 9/16" and 3/4"???..... ..respectfully, Dell

(3) If your oil pump gear is 34 or 916 inches wide. That is what they are asking for, and I was asking which gear? (I thought they were asking how thick the gear were) The main ft. gear, or the inner gears. Didnt think I was that stupied, but I guess my question was... Thank you dell for your answer....
