12V conversion wiring

The wiring diagram that came with the kit does not show how to connect the wires at the existing resistor assy.

The diagram has a "red & white" wire group going from the starter switch to the negative side of the ammeter. The other wire to the resistor assy.

One of the wires from the key is also shown going to the resistor assy. the other wire to another resistor supplied with the kit. The wire on the other side of this resistor goes to the 12v coil.

A wire is also shown from the plus side of the ammeter to the alternator.

The problem is the wires going to the existing resistor do not have their positions marked but simply grouped together near the picture of the resistor.

I expect that one wire will go to the bottom terminal and the wire from the key would go to one of the upper terminals - thus providing some resistance???

Is there a difference between the two upper terminals? and is it important to attach the wires on specific terminals (upper or lower)?

We can discuss why I am doing this conversion but right now I need to get the 2N back in the field to cut grass while the weather holds.

Thanks for your help. Bob

Lets make it easy.. if the kit you are using has an extra resistor they want you to use, grab the wire going to your coil, follow it back under the dash.. vut it and put the resistor inline.

The wire from your alternator charge stud.. put it on the side of the old cutout relay going back into the dash.. not the side that went to the generator.

You should be ready to roll if this was just a 1-wire alt swap in, using the existing coil and the new ressitor.

No need to make it complicated...
