How much for a non-running 8N with bad tires

Hello All

I typically stick to Allis Chalmers, but I want to dabble in Ford tractors for a bit.

I am looking to rebuild my first Ford, an 8N that is not currently running. It looks like it will require new tires as well. Otherwise it looks complete, not stuck.

Anybody have a ballpark figure for a complete non-running 8N in fair-poor shape?

Thanks!

I never pay more than 500 for ANY NON-running tractor. 300-400 is typical even out here. If the seller won't come down, I tell him I gotta at least hear it fire for 10 seconds. Even if it won't start, a good 12 volt battery is good enough to do a rough test of the hydraulics and get sort of a feel of the engine's looseness. Bad tires ALL around can easily double your initial investment.

Paid 200.00 for mine non running with bad tires and it had a loader on it as well.I wouldn't pay over 400.00 because you can't test the trans,3 point or anything else. But that's just me.

You can EASILLY test the 3pt.

Remember.. the pump is run by the pto shaft.

Disengage the pto shifter. stick a screwdriver thru the pto shaft or clamp a pair of vice grips on it.. lif the control handle, and spin away... if there is oil in the lift and the unit is good, the arms will climb.

I check every 'N' lift this way when i go look at them on the side of the road.

Thanks for the feedback guys. "OLD" how did you find a $100 tractor? I would pick that up all day! I have looked all over Michigan and everyone is getting way more money for their tractors than I think they are worth.

I am looking for inexpensive projects to work on. Something about the thrill of bringing them back to life!

Thanks.

You just have to know how to beat the right bushes I guess. I find tractors all the time for $100-500 and some have even run. It does help having a partner that owns a pawn shop and he has a sign in his shop WANTED dead tractors.

Last one I got that way cost me a big old $100 bill. It even had a loader on it and part of a back hoe. Now that said I would go from $100-500 tops on one like your talking about and I'd go low if its a front mount type and higher if side mount
