People: I put an 8 volt battery in my 49 8N, my volt meter shows neither charge or discharge, but I cannot polarize my Regulator or at least I get no sparking when I try to polarize it. Can someone out their tell me what I"am doing wrong.

You can keep your 8-volt battery and it will work just fine.

All you have to do is:

Change your 6-volt generator to an 8-10 volt unit.

Change your 6-volt regulator (if any) to an 8-10 volt unit.

Change your ignition coil to an 8-volt unit.

Change all your lights to 8-volt units.

Change any non-mechanical gauges to 8 volt units.

Otherwise, if it doesn't bother you too much to keep your money in your possession, you could just swap that fantastic 8-volt battery for a sorry utilitarian 6-volt unit. third party image

As the others are telling you.. you have just put a square peg into a round hole and are having problems.. and you are wondering why?

Also.. do you really have a volt meter.. or do you have an ammeter like these tractors had when they were new?

get a 6v battery then fix the problems that made you think you needed the 8v bandaid battery.

post back.. we'll help ya.

Pack,

Your 6volt charging system cannot charge an 8volt battery. Get yourself a 6volt battery.

To polarize, briefly touch the BAT/ARM terminals on your VR.

Why did you put in an 8V battery?
