To the ones who responded to my post of 10/10/07 about not having any spark.
I checked all the things you suggested before pulling the dist. I found there were no gaskets between the cap or the coil. Lot of grit inside. The points had a gap of less than .008 as that is my thinest gauge. I replaced the rotor, condenser and points and reinstalled. Still no spark so took home and set in a vise and connected to a battery. Had a wire in #1 plug but no spark to vise. Pulled the pigtail some more and this time had a good spark. I had pulled the pigtail before but not enough. The gasket had added thickness and I had not pulled it enough. Anyway went back out this morning, put back in and I am back in business again. The old points had no pitting at all, and as well as it had been running I suspect the problem was the pigtail. Anyway, thanks for the sugestions and encouragement.

way to go, good to get em running. when i replace a coil i pull the pig tail to where, when i set it down on the distributor, the pig tail holds it up a little, and if i push it down it will raise when i release it. this way i know i have good contact. RP
