Putting '49 8N away for the winter. Stored in a unheated but dry garage.

Check the antifreeze, block the clutch, fill the gas tank, add Stabil. Question is do you drain the carb or leave it full of gas/stabil mix.

Thanks

I keep gas tank full to avoid condensation. I run my tractors throughout the winter so I don't drain the carbs. However, ATV's may sit out the winter un-started so to avoid residue in carb left over from evaporated fuel, I run the carbs dry (gas tank valve off) at the last use of the season. This has proven a good plan for over 20 years. A time or two some of the boys have left gas in a carb from maybe Thanksgiving until May and then, it has been disassembly time! Varnish/gum mess in tiny little carbs.
I will give a potential reason for an exception to carb dry with N's and that is that those are mostly cast iron (vs ATV aluminum), so the possibility if condensation/rust might offset the gum/varnish residue problem? Not certain how to call that one. If you can, just run 'em once a month or so. I even start my combine every month or so, even though it is used once a year.

I leave the carb full of the gas/StaBil mix because I do not want rust to form in the carb bowl or for the gasket to dry out. You will get other opinions..... .!!!

I think those are good points, Bruce. I recently bought a tractor that had set for 2-3 years or more un-used and the carb gasket had shrunk to where it was venting the bowl to atmosphere & caused me no end in grief trying to find why it wouldn't run right under load/speed!!!!

I've had good experience keeping the tanks full of gas/stabil. The fuller they're kept, the less condensation to deal with.
