Usually see this in JD circles, occasionally in IH circles, but rarely with N people: A "rare" 1947 2N for sale on the photo ads board for $5800. What's rare about it? Does it have a Sherman uP/down? If it does that might make it desirable, not rare. Is it because it is a '47?
Certainly not because it is a 2N; more of those made than both 9Ns and 8Ns combined! Is it because it's painted wrong? Certainly not "rare!" All to common in fact. Probably had a 12v conversion! Again all too rare! I don't see a 6 or 8 cyl conversion sticking out from under the hood. Can some body bring me up to speed on why that very common $1800 tractor that still needs to be stripped and painted correctly is rare?

I was under the impression that about twice as many 8N's were made as 9N's and 2N's combined. Am I wrong?

It's "rare" because the owner is clueless.

If a 1947 2N like that is that rare, I have one that looks just like it at half that price, any takers? Come and get it. And I am serious.

I agree with everything you said. It would be priced right at a third of his asking price...
