Underpowered 9N????

I've been pulling a 5" Howse Brush Hog behind my 9N and it feels like the old girl is underpowered. The first cut of grass was 2' of neglected fields, which I can understand, but when I cut it again,(aprox 8-10")it seemed that I was still just chugging along, especially trying to pull a hill.

Does the 9 have enough balls, or am I just imagining things?????

Should pull a 5' cutter just fine. I have one, works great and have mowed some fairly tall stuff. You may have to do some checking on the engine in general and the governor, but I should have enough hair to pull a 5 footer.

I agree with Jerry. When the engine begins to labor, the governor should ask for more gas from the carb. I'd start with a complete tune up and carb adjustment. If that doesn't improve the situation, remove the governor and inspect the race and flyballs for wear.

It also wouldn't hurt to do a compression check.
