Does the line to the oil pressure gauge need to be filled with oil for the gauge to work..I just put on a new line after rebuilding the motor and want to check to see if I have oil pressure before the electrified start?

technically the air pressure would produce a reading 9 pressure is pressure ).. however since air compresses and changes density with temps.. it would be a bouncy eratic #.

Leave the fitting loose with a rag arounf it and fire it up.. it will self purge and rust proof the back of the dash helping to preserve it!

( worked for me.. )

Yes - that's what I did. It worked for me. Seems like if you don't fill it, you'll just have air pressure, not hydraulic, which is what's needed for a correct reading.

Actually the reverse is true. Air is compressible and will dampen the gauge.
