Just finished cleaning my carb, new plugs. My 8N starts right up, but when I try to adjust the carb, she"ll stall out when I push the choke in, even after she"s warmed up. Ideas?

Plan and simple when you cleaned the carb you missed some thing. BTDT many times. These carbs are simple but its also easy to miss a clogged up main jet etc. I had the same problem not log ago on an 8N I have. I ended up playing with 2 different carbs that I had before one of them would work right on it. But thats the nature of the carbs on these tractors and it doesn't tkae much to clog up a passage

Did it do this before the carburetor was worked on? Choke valves do not fuel the engine except to start. After it is started and warmed up it should be parallel to the air horn.It sounds to me like it needs fuel.CENTAUR

From some post I remember someone talking about using guitar strings to ream the passages in the carb. I bought some and have used ever since and it works great. Another trick I use is the canned carb cleaner with the small tube. You should be able to blow into each hole and have carb cleaner come out somewhere else. Its a kind of a visual check to let you know the passages are open.

Possible a partially clogged passage somewhere yet. Possibly a vacuum leak at the base of the carb. to the manifold or the manifold to the engine. You can start the tractor and spray carb cleaner or WD40 around the gasket areas for the carb and manifold and the engine will change speeds if you hit the leak. Sometimes a weak spark will cause that too but usually that makes them a little hard to start too.
Good Luck, Lee

Careful with the carb. cleaner.A while back I warned my Brother about being careful using CC. He set his truck on fire with it anyway..... He was able to get it out before major damage was done...Better to use a small benzomatic type torch. No fire just crack the valve and shoot the gas toward the gasket area.
