How far can they be turned? Has a couple of nicks and scratch. Im guessing they are like a brake rotor and can be turned only so far? Got the broken bolt out of the flywheel today. Going to take it to the machine shop in the morning..

Thanks Don...Should I take a caliper with me and check it before I pay them? They asked me the year make and model...WOW LOL thats older then me she said...Me to thank goodness...Disk looked pretty good except for all the miner oil it had been drinking. Ill bet it has not been turned in a clutch job or two or three. It was worn for sure but what can you expect after 66 years.... I just cant see not having it resurfaced and puting a new clutch in...

Sean; I think you need to go to the Hardware store and buy a one lb. roll of 16ga. Mechanics saftey wire, for the flywheel/crank bolts. Dormans products, Inc. Makes this wire just for these types of use. Don't cost much!!!

I use it for all sorts of things. I would not use bailing wire, as it is too soft for this type of application

Howdy Donn, Had tranny troubles so I rebuilt it. New bearings seals and gaskets. Located a machine shop in San Antonio...36 bucks to resurface the flywheel. Not to bad. I have not had one done in years I think it was 20 bucks back then..

I'd hit it 9 swipes with sandpaper and install and run it. I see nothing that would worry me about putting it back together without re-surfacing it. Electric fence wire will do the trick. No pressure on it, it just keeps them from wanting to start backing out. Most likely will never move one milligillionth if you never put wire back in it.

Sean, Looks like your into this thing with both feet. The machine shop will surface grind it just enought to clean it up which shouldn't be much unless you have some deep digs in it. Probably no more than 10-15 thousands. It will make the clutch nice and smooth. Donn

I'd get on an aircraft site and find some safety wire. You won't go wrong.
