I think it was one of u guys I was talking to some time back about about cranking my 8n up after the rebuild and before gasoline or spark..to check my oil pressure..I had put a new gauge on when it was running last since my pressure was low 10 cold and 5-6 hot..it did not get better with new gauge so I decided to do some major repairs..now I squirt some oil down each spark plug hole and cranked it over...ZIP...no pressure at all so I put the old gauge back on and bled the line to it and now when I roll it over I get 10 psi but LOTSAOIL came out when I bled it and rustproofed the back of my dash and floor...what should I get if alls well with the pump just cranking it over....turns over good..no eerie noises..whew!!

I can get a few psi oil pressure with just the starter... I don't expect every engine to be able to build oil pressure with the starter...

Once she's primed.. go for it and see what you got.

10 psi on the starter is better than my old Bessie's oil pressure running hot - I believe you're good to go without further work.

Not Soundguy or Dunk.....and if I'm wrong, they will correct me! Did you put any grease in the pump when you rebuilt it? That will allow it to prime. If you need to prime it, remove the 15/16 hex nut to the right of the water pump. This is where your oil gallery is for the valves/lifters is. Don't lose the little spring under the nut. Use an oil squirt can to put about a cup of 90w oil in here. Replace the spring & nut. Turn the engine over & watch the oil pressure gauge.

I didnt rebuild the pump..everything looked good and tight and nope..no grease..didnt read that part till after it was back together..as well as the tranny seal while I had the engine off..if I had stalled a little longer I would have heard about those tips and did em. Oh well live and maybe learn but I do have a little oil pressure so I guess its workin..do ya think itll come up some when I fire it up?

Bruce, I am way off my rocker, but didn't he say he had oil pressure? (with his starter)

I could be wrong, all of the time.

I just give my best guess at thangs.

Nope, you're not wrong..... after my third reading of the post, I did finally get it that he had oil pressure from turning it over w/ the starter.

Still need to put the new radiator on and I wanted to paint the hood first but I guess I can get an old lawnmower gas tank and put the juice to her and see what happens..as soon as I get my electrical issues resolved...need to do rear axle seals too and then go mow my pasture so I can see the deer and toikeys and help some into my freezer.

I would strongly reccomend that you rig up a temp gas tank and check the tractor running prior to installing the hood. I also startup with only water in the tractor in case you find a major leak. Once you know everything is working dump the water and add the antifreeze mix and hood.
