The 12-volt conversion on my 9N tractor (done before I got it) looks simple.

The generator is replaced by an alternator, which required a change in the mounting bracket. The alternator has a built-in regulator. The one used is a 1980's Chevy Pickup alternator, and it has a 1-wire output. There is a jumper wire on it, which is essential, and a diode in the line whose white band is oriented toward the alternator.

The coil was changed to a 12-volt model, but I understand 6-volt coils can be used with the proper resistor.

The starter appears to be original, 6-volt, but I can't be sure.

There are no lights on my tractor, so bulbs didn't need to be changed.

Of course, the battery was changed, and the new one doesn't fit the original hold-down, so a bungee cord holds it in place.

As far as I can tell, that's it.
