Well, Bob...

Yes the heat on the operator is (could be) a factor, but since one is still operating the tractor in a forward gear, wouldn't one still be passing thru the heat?.

Now for one of the very few things I know about operating a bulldozer.

When using a bull dozer to push up a fire into a pile, a pusher fan would be very desirable, as if one has a puller fan all of the fire, sparks, and smole are sucked onto the engine and across the operator.

Not a good plan..

I know of one dozier that had a puller fan that was burned up, because the operator didn't realize this fact.

No it wasn't me.

Spent over 10 hours yesterday on a 30HP Kubota 4x4 w/loader, pushing brush into fires. Would've much sooner had a track loader (done that too). Several windrows of debris from logging, Probably 500 feet long had it been one continuous windrow. We had someone use a dozer w/brush rake to make the windrows this summer.

Didn't set the Kabookie on fire, but had the front tires (industrials) warmed up a few times. ;o)

Worst part of the job, was that the wind kept changing direction during the day. Dog wouldn't let me be last night when I got home, likely thought I was a 200lb slab of hickory smoked bacon.

I never could figure out the "pusher fan" thing. What is the difference which way the fan blows... the reverse-flow fan would simply slather the BACKSIDE of the radiator with debris, rather than the front!

I'd guess the reverse-flow fan would make the operator a LOT more comfortable in HOT weather, though!

JMO but I believe you'd get less stuff on the back side with a pusher fan. A few weeks ago I swallowed a cotton basket full of broom straw bloom. Straw taller than the tractor..Anyway,using this for an example, I believe it would take lots longer to clog up the back side with a pusher in grass like this--as compared to the normal puller..JMHO but this is my story and I'm sticking to it...
