It was youth hunting season this weekend in Texas and my nephew shot his first buck (a four pointer), I shot my first ever bow kill (a doe) and the 8N ran like a champion both days as we passed the time between hunts box blading a bad patch of road.

While the kid was excited about the deer. He seemed to be as equally stoked about getting to drive the tractor.

Your nephew is lucky, and you"ve given him a memory with his uncle that he"ll cherish the rest of his life!

Both great experiences for a kid.

My first hunting exp was my stepfather picking my stepbrother and I up from school now and then to get some forest time.

Good for you ont he tractor time too. When i go to antique shows.. there are fewer and fewer young people showing up... More young-uns need to get involved in the antique tractor hobby.

I'm trying to get my son started early. Is this soon enough for you?
Here I am teaching him the controls:

And here I am teaching him to drive:

He is 4 weeks old in these photos.

Sorry for the blue tractor photos, but I just realized I don't have any of him on the 8N. I'll need to fix that as soon as it stops raining...

I think some congratulations are in order! And it looks to me like you're making good progress there, but make sure he learns to have a discerning eye for color ;-)

That sounds like what life is all about. Youngins', old iron, hunting...doesn't get any better than that. He'll never forget last weekend!

Just be sure to teach them to respect both guns and tractors and to be safe with both of them, don't want to see anyone injured or killed.
