My pulley fell off of the generator on a 9N today. From looking at the shop manual I think I need the lockwasher and nut. Do I need a clip for the end? Also is it threaded right or left and how do you keep the armature from turning when you thread the pulley on?

Thanks.

That nut really isn't all that special. Normal treads and to be able to get it tight as it should be you almost need an impact gun to do it. If you remove the genny and take it to town with you you should be able to find a nut that will work and a lock washer also and yes you need the washer

Thanks old,
But how do you keep the armature from turning while you are threading the pulley on and the nut? It seems to spin freely when you try to thread them on.

Thats why you need an impact wrench they turn fast enough to keep that from being a problem

I see. Thanks for your help. The threads are getting very worn on the armature so that may be the problem.

If thats the case you may need to replace it or get it rebuilt. Or you also may need to find another genny for parts to fix that one.
