My 1948, 8N has a small leak at the rear wheel. Reading the service manual, it appears that I only need to remove the brake drum assembly and I will have access to the oil seal. It does not appear that I would have to remove the axle. Is this true? It doesn't appear to be that difficult of a fix. Of course I have been wrong before. I will appreciate the feed back.

It's not hard to do, but what you have to figure out is if it is just the seal, or if it is the seal, AND a worn out hub.

See John Smiths Page on this.

LOL!!

John Smith is "da man"!!

I owe lots of knowledge to his great, well done, shared freely, information!!

He has shown me how to do things to my '49 8N the local tractor place said wasn't possible.

I haven't done any business with them in quite some time now, due to that, as well as some other business practices that I didn't quite agree with of theirs.

They ball face lied to me about rebuilding a super dexta that I bought from them, all they did was a coat of blue paint, that thing was worn slap out, and they charged me $200 to take it back.

I have NO use for a ball faced liar.

I lost $200, but I learned $200 worth, I also learned that they won't profit any more off of me, that may cost them a lot more than that in the long run.

As I have bought all of my parts on the Internet since then, and that has been quite a bit.

I am with Tom, screw em, and the Kubota place... LMAO!!
