I guess you call it a stump jumper coz when you hit a stump or bit of wood or something you jump out of your skin?!! Man that makes a loud bang!

My 8N with new (old) hog attachment.

I got to the leaves just after the pic was taken -
also, can I put grease in the hog gear box rather than oil? Oil is leaking out of seal.

Grease is not as good for the gears and bearings as is EP oil but it is far better than nothing and it will last a long time with grease in it.

If it is not leaking too badly, try CNH pourable EP grease. Its about the consistency of 000 oil or cornhead grease and is designed for EP applications. I've had it in one of my bush hogs for a couple of years.

Your dealer may not stock it but can get it.

Just wait till you brake a blade some time and the thing starts to shack like its going to kick you and the tractor side ways. Plus if you do brake a blade good luck finding it. BTDT and boy did it scared the $%^$ out of me. Plus we never did find the blade

Yeah, I only work it when there is no risk of family or dog hanging around - I imagine anything coming out from under there could potentially kill someone....

I went under a tree....after I came out the other side I thought...that was pretty stupid, the branch could have hooked me off the tractor and an arm or leg could have been ripped off by that spinning drive line....I guess that is why the new ones are in a sleeve?

Yep.. hogs finding hidden treasure in hi-grass are one of the leading causes of 'brown-alerts' that happen to tractor owners..

I have been using grease in my old piece of junk for years. Figured it wasn't worth the cost of new seals & it has been working much longer than I expected.
It is happy. I'm happy.
