im going to pick motorcraft, based on the width of the winding band between the 2 aluminum halvs, and tha absence of the plug for the voltage regulator in the top of the rear half, if we could see the hookup on the back it would be a no brainer, i also compared it to the pic of how to wire the thing up witha idiot lite or diode and the pic of the 851 in the parts and pieces section which is definatly a ford alternator, his wont charge though, is there a reason why you dont run a fan on the alternator behind the pulley?

LOL!!

I'd bet on it, mine is a 6 volt, positive ground, Chevy alternator, that I had an alternator shop build for me.

Just so that you understand Dell's "Hakeem's Razor"

"All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the right one."

YES..... .According to Hakeem's Razor, that is the popular and cheap Delco 10-SI alternator with built-in voltage regulator used by Chevy and other GM products. Commonly used for alotta 12-volt conversions on different vehicles including motorboats and tractors..... ..Dell, a 12-volt advocate for the right reason
